Revlon Colorburst Lipsticks - Swatches

Here are some swatches of the Revlon Colorburst lipsticks I have. As you might be aware I am extremly fond of this range :)

You can read my review of these lipsticks here.

Blush: is a shimmery pale pink shade with a touch of peach

Grape: Crushed Black grapes - this reminds me of the color of deep red wine. A soft purple that is easy to carry off thanks to its sheerness

Soft Rose: Pure Rosy Pink

Rosy Nude: Brown softened with a hint of rose pink.

True Red: Red with blue undertones.

Raspberry: My first colorburst! A very pretty deep, berry plumy pink.

Which colorbursts do you have? Any favourites?

Addicted to Blush Awards 2010 - Skincare

The second installment of the awards:

FACE FACE WASH: Lakme Fruit Blast Citrus Rain: I love the tangy, citrusy smell. It cleanses without drying.
FACIAL CLEANSER Jergens Facial Cream: Even the most waterproof mascara just melts in front of this. Deep cleans & moisturizes all at one go. I have been using this for more than a year now – this is just perfect.
FACIAL SCRUB The Body Shop Facial Buffer - use this with any face wash & up the game by adding a touch of exfoliation
FACIAL MOISTURIZER
For Day: Neutrogena Fine Fairness Lotion with SPF 30 & PPA++: moisturizes well for a good 8 hours, but totally non greasy. The high SPF helps combat the sun.
For Night: The Body Shop Hemp Face Protector: Yes, it doesn’t smell great, but my skin loves it
FACE PACK No winners – I didn’t get any face packs this year, and the couple that I got – not too great.
FACE TONER My very own glycerin & water combo works very fine.
EYE CREAM Rogan Badam Shirin: Yup, the pure almond oil. Moisturizes and l…

Lakme Lip Love Lipstick - Review

What it claims: An exclusive lip color that leaves your lips hydrated while protecting them and nourishing then with SPF 16.
Made in Italy

Price: Rs. 550 (I got this for 485 at beauty centre)

Shades available: 12, I am reviewing Aphrodite's Blush - a peach brown shade.

Pros:

1. Pretty long lasting, although it doesn't make any claims of this sort, this lipstick lasts long - a good 4 to 5 hours if you don't eat/drink anything. After that it fades a little. I have been wearing this to office almost everyday since I got it on friday. I just need to touch up once during lunch.

2. I don't feel the need to use a lipbalm underneath this, it is moisturising but not that creamy to slide off your lips

3. The texture is very light, this doesn't feel very thick or gloopy on the lips.

4. SPF 16

5. The totally red, shiny christmasy packaging - it looks like a pretty christmas bauble - & also makes it very easy to pick out from my stack of lipsticks

6. It has some 12 sha…

Bridget Jones on "Being a Woman"

Briget Jones Diary is one of my favourite books of all times. I must have read it like a thousand times already.

There is this passage in the book where Bridget is frantically getting ready for her first date with Daniel, this is what she had to say:

"Completely exhausted by entire day of date-preparation. Being a woman is worse than being a farmer there is so much harvesting and crop spraying to be done: legs to be waxed, underarms shaved, eyebrows plucked, feet pumiced, skin exfoliated and moisturized, spots cleansed, roots dyed, eyelashes tinted, nails filed, cellulite massaged, stomach muscles exercised. The whole performance is so highly tuned you only need to neglect it for a few days for the whole thing to go to seed.

Sometimes I wonder what I would be like if left to revert to nature — with a full beard and handlebar moustache on each shin, Dennis Healey eyebrows, face a graveyard of dead skin cells, spots erupting, long curly fingernails like Struwelpeter, blind as bat …

LUSH Sympathy for the Skin - Review

A dear friend had gifted me LUSH vouchers for Diwali. This product was one of the things I got from it.
What it Claims: Generous banana custard body cream. Eleven years old and still as popular as ever, Sympathy for the Skin is probably the only banana custard body cream in the universe, and almost definitely the only one with real, organic mashed bananas in it. We use real bananas to make skin softer, even if they're a bit of a menace to mash. Smooth our nutritious cream all over your body and go absolutely bananas. The name comes from The Rolling Stones' track 'Sympathy for the Devil.'
Ingredients: Vanilla Pod Infusion (Vanilla planifolia), Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis), Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Fresh Organic Bananas (Musa paradisiaca), Stearic Acid, Glycerine, Triethanolamine, Sandalwood Oil (Santalum album), Lemon Oil (Citrus limonum), Labdanum Resinoid (Cistus ladaniferus), Cetearyl Alcohol, Limonene, Perfume, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

organic bananas. They a…

Lakme Lip Love Lipsticks - Preview

Lakme has launched a new range of lipsticks called Lakme LipLove. The packaging is pretty neat - the lipsticks are engraved with the word LOVE. Here are some images of the shade that I got - Aphrodite's Blush.

They are priced around 500 Rs, and there are some 20 different shades. I quite liked some them, and bought this one first to test it out.

Merry Christmas!

Katrina Kaif’s Look in Ajab Prem ki Ghazab Kahani

ha I know, this movie released like ages ago. I saw a re-run of this last weekend on TV. While the movie is total TP, this second watching allowed me to notice other things – like how Ranbir seems to be sporting The Body Shop Cheek & Lip Tint 01 on his lips in the movie, and also how ethereal Katrina Kaif looks.
Her style is totally girly, with cute headbands, polka dotted knee length  dresses coupled with those cute forehead bangs.
As far as her makeup is concerned:
Skin: flawless, dewy, glowy. Shivani of Adorable on Your Vanity thinks she must have used a MUFE HD foundation. (Thanks for the tip Girl!). Highlighter used along the cheekbones.
Eyes: Lots of mascara on both upper & lower lashes. I think she is also wearing some false eyelashes – probably a half set or individual ones on the upper outer lash line for that fluttery doe-eyed look. Also the lashes used are probably the straight ones as they tend to make the eyes look more rounded - which is perfect for the innocent ba…

Amla - Reetha - Shikakai Shampoo - Update

Such fine weather outside in Mumbai – makes me super lazy. I so wanna sit by a window sill with a nice Jane Austen novel & a cup of cocoa. :)
As some of you know, I have been using Amla – Reetha – Shikakai (ARS) decocotion to cleanse my hair. It has been over a month, I thought I would give you an update as well as answer some queries I have received on this.
First of all, I must say I am absolutely in love with this homemade shampoo. It smells earthy & woodsy, charmingly. My hair has never felt or looked better – it is more thicker, lush almost, easy to style, it looks healthy & bouncy. Also somehow I need to wash it less frequently now.
Earlier when I used shampoo (L’ Oreal Professional), my scalp would get really oily within 48 hours of washing, as a result my already fine hair would look limp & lifeless, necessitating a wash.
Such frequent washing over time, I believe, lead to my hair becoming very dry – I suffered from frizzy, dry hair, & my scalp would g…

Jordana Glitterama EyeLiners - Review

What it claims: ·Glamorous, Glitzy, Daring & Edgy ·Sparkling Micro-Glitter Adds Shimmer

·Super-Intense Creamy Color ·Finishes off a Fabulous Party Look
Price: Rs. 120 for .98 gms
I have ·Black Bash: a light charcoal black with silver shimmer
·Bronze Fest: Brown with golden glitter
·Green Gala: Light green with silver glitter
·Midnight Celebration: Dark blue with silver & blue glitter
·Purple Party: Purple with silver glitter
Pros:
1. The glitter is not OTT. So while it does make these eyepencils & the color stand out on your eye, it is not that shimmery that you won’t be able to wear these to office or during the day. So they are an interesting alternative to matt liners. They look attractive, without making you look like a disco ball. 2. Interesting shades – I like black bash (charcoal black with silver shimmer) the best, followed by midnight celebration (blue with silver & blue shimmer).
3. Very economical at 120 bucks a pencil.
Cons: 1. These aren’t the best quality pe…

Addicted to Blush Awards 2010

Carrying on the tradition from last year, presenting this year's Addicted to Blush - Beauty Awards 2010.

These are the products that appealed the most to me during the year. This is of course, not a comprehensive list as I have not tried every brand in each product range and the final selection was based solely on my experience with the products.

Foundation

Medium to Heavy coverage: Bourjois Healthy Mix – good matt, glowy coverage without looking overdone.

Light coverage: Ponds Age Miracle Tinted Moisturizer with spf 15 – love this thing! I use Sheer Ivory 01 in winters & rainy season and Sheer Rose 02 during summers (I seem to get a bit of a tan then)
Concealor
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealor: Instant under eye brightness! Magic :)

Loose Powder
Lakme Rose Powder light, airy, fine powder. Does a decent job.
Compact Powder No winners here, simply because I didn’t get any compact powder this year. Nothing interesting enough….

Eyeshadow
